Kozoji Sitting Amitabha Buddha
The front and back of the Buddha are made from two different pieces of wood, while the shoulder regions are made from yet another piece of wood. Having suffered fierce weather conditions, such as wind and snow, for 800 years, the wooden blocks of the Buddha have warped, leaving a fissure in the face of the Buddha. The Buddha simply sits in silence.

Clay Figurine of a Deer Looking Backwards
The deer is an important animal often used by the Shinto gods and played a prominent role in the Shinto religion. In this regard, the haniwa at hand was made with reverence to the sacred beast, with green and rouge painted eyes and an an expression of movement at the mouth.
