 Artist Wu Weishan
This exhibition features the works of world-renowned Chinese sculptor Wu Weishan (1962- ). Professor Wu, who is currently director of the Nanjing University Sculpture Arts Research Center, is one of the foremost contemporary sculptors in China today. Not only was he the first Asian to be invited to the venerable Royal Society of British Sculptors, but during his extraordinary artistic career he has been commissioned to make sculptures of over 200 heads of state, scientists, artists, and other prominent figures.
Many of his sculptures have been collected and are on display at numerous public institutions, including museums and universities throughout Europe, the United States, and China. This will be Professor Wu's first exhibition in Japan. This Yufuku Gallery Exhibition will feature ten bronze sculptures and twelve paintings by this artist. We are truly honored to have Wu Weishan at Yufuku, and we hope this endeavor will help facilitate a greater understanding and friendship between our two cultures.
