Yamashiro Tateshi
December 2 thru December 11, 2004

Ceramic work by Japanese Artist Yamashiro Tateshi
Sake cup and flask by Yamashiro Tateshi

Japanese Artist Yamashiro Tateshi
 Yamashiro Tateshi

spacerspacerSake plays an integral role in the traditions of Japan. On New Year's Day, we often enjoy sake from ceramic sake vessels, including cups (guinomi or sakazuki) and flasks (tokkuri). For this particular exhibition, we asked Yamashiro (1948 - ) to create sake utensils and tableware that complement one another. The artist works in Tamba, one of the original "Six Old Kilns" of Japan, and makes works utilizing traditional techniques and glazes, namely within the styles of Mishima-de, Ki-Seto, Hakeme and Hikidashi-guro.

This exhibition will run from December 2 to December 11. Please note that Yufuku gallery will be closed on Sunday and Monday.
